World Sailing Awards 2025

World Sailing Awards 2025 - “A top experience!” for NOAV

I was fortunate enough to represent Nikolas Pappas at the World Youth Sailor Of The Year 2025 awards ceremony, held by World Sailing in Dublin, Ireland.

I could not have imagined in 2011, when this effort began, that we would achieve such a distinction.

I could not have imagined in 2016, when Leonidas came to work for the first time as a sailing coach, that this man would produce a World Champion and dozens of little champions.

And it never crossed my mind that a few years later, the blond bombshell who felt nauseous every time he faced a new challenge would become a world champion and receive such recognition.

Sometimes events surpass our imagination and when they unfold you realize that they are all real and all possible.

In Ireland, I had the pleasure and honour of meeting and speaking with many leading figures, professionals, and athletes in sailing, getting a taste of the size, dynamics, and breadth of interest that sailing generates. Because in sailing, the competitive and sporting content is not independent of technology, the economy, entertainment, tourism and other sectors.

Nikolas' success is a passport for the Group to find ourselves in another world, within sailing but beyond our sporting microcosm, and it brings us face to face with the responsibility of this knowledge.
